【Abstract】Objective To evaluate the effects of Metacognitive Training (MCT) on patients with chronic schizophrenia. Methods A Random Number Table was used to divide 80 patients with chronic schizophrenia into the research group (n=40) and the control group (n=40). The research group participated in MCT while the control group was recorded for comparison. After 4 weeks of treatment, the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and the Schizophrenia Cognition Rating Scale (SCoRS) were used to evaluate the effects. Results After 4 weeks of treatment, two groups showed a significant difference in total PANSS scores, positive symptoms and scores of individual SCoRS items (P<0.05). Conclusion MCT can significantly improve the positive symptoms and cognitive functions of patients with chronic schizophrenia.
