Abstract Objective: To investigate the effects of sheclorin combined with valproate on immunity, cognition and mental function in elderly patients with epilepsy accompanied by mental disorders. Methods: 204 patients with epilepsy and mental disorders from January 2016 to December 2017 were collected and randomly divided into two groups. The control group was treated with topiramate, and the experimental group was treated with shecrin and valproate, and the immune, cognitive and mental functions and therapeutic effects of the two groups were statistically analyzed. Results: The averages of serum CD3, CD4, CD8 and IgA, IgG, IgM showed significant changes, and the difference between and within groups was not statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the MMSE score and PANSS score were significantly improved in both groups, and the differences between and within groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).The effective rate of 80.39 % in the test group was significantly higher than the effective rate of 54.90 % in the control group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion : sheclorin combined with valproate drugs can obviously improve the therapeutic effect and the cognitive and mental function of the elderly patients with epilepsy and mental disorders, but it does not affect the immune function of the patients.
